Dr. Wasantha Priyadarshana

Buddhist Psychology

Dr. Wasantha Priyadarshana studied Buddhist Philosophy and Counselling. He obtained his Ph.D. in the field of Career and Educational Counseling (Colombo, Sri Lanka). He is teaching Buddhist Psychotherapy at the Postgraduate Institute of Pali and Buddhist Studies at the University of Kelaniya (Kandy, Sri Lanka) and is conducting various programmes related to Buddhist Psychotherapy. Currently he is a visiting lecturer at the International Buddhist College.

Ven. Hui Ming

Chinese Buddhism

Venerable Hui Ming was born in Tainan, Taiwan in 1953. He is skilled at expounding the Buddha's teachings in multiple languages. The Venerable has propagated Buddhist thought in more than 60 countries worldwide. He has been propagating the Dharma for more than thirty years in Malaysia since his first visit in 1983.

Ven. Dr. Zhen Jue

Textual Studies, Early Buddhism, Indian Buddhism, Yogācāra

Scriptural languages studied: Pāli, Sanskrit, Tibetan. Obtained M.A. and Ph.D. in Buddhist Studies in the University of Hong Kong, China. Core area of specialization is textual studies. Research interests include Early Buddhism, Indian Buddhism, Yogācāra. Currently she is a visiting Honorary Lecturer at the International Buddhist College.

Basic Education

The courses within this section equip the student with the basic skills to study Buddhist thought. Especially a high command of English is absolutely essential for the successful study of Buddhism, as today's predominant scientific language is English. But also advanced skills in computer and web technology is key, because the libraries are more and more electronic and the future research will be predominately digital in nature. Thus the aim of these lectures is to equip the students with the basic skills they will need for their successful studies.

Language and Culture

The study of Pali and Sanskrit build the foundation of the study of Buddhist thought, as the skill in these ancient Buddhist languages equip the students with the possibility to read and interpret root texts. Thus IBC offers a broad range of Pali and Sanskrit courses. The aim of these courses is to bring the students to a level. where they can read, translate and interpret classical texts. Lectures about Chinese, Tibetan and Thai language complete the language related offering. Furthermore IBC offers some Lectures about the manifestation of Buddhist thought in Art and Culture.
