Field Visit to Sri Lanka

Reported by Ven. Ananda (BA2 student)
On 7th May, 2026, Ven. Zhen Sheng, the Director of Rector Office, International Buddhist College (IBC) and I visited Sri Lanka. Firstly, we had the great honour of visiting Malwathu Maha Viharaya and meeting the Most Venerable Thibbatuwawe Sri Siddhartha Sumangala Mahanayaka Thero. In addition, the Mahanayaka Thero kindly presented Ven. Zhen Sheng with a Buddha statue as a sacred memento of the visit.

During the journey, we also had the opportunity to visit many sacred places throughout Sri Lanka. In particular, we visited five Pirivena institutions to learn about their educational activities and to discuss the future educational development of students in those institutions. Several monks also came to personally meet Ven. Zhen Sheng at Galketiya Purana Viharaya.

Moreover, Ven. Zhen Sheng also received gifts and offerings from the monks and lay devotees during the trip. He respectfully re-offered these donations to the respective temples with great generosity and humility.

We returned to Thailand on 13th May, 2026, marking the end of our memorable visit at Sri Lanka. Last but not least, we would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the monastic and lay communities concerned, together with all those who contributed directly or indirectly to making this trip both meaningful and successful.
