My new experience as a volunteer English teacher was extremely challenging and thrilled. Couple weeks ago, I had a golden chance to participate English intensive Course conducted by IBC for Thai students. I was so excited but deep inside felt proud myself since I have been a student for ages, hence it was a great opportunity for me to share my little knowledge to society. First day reaching upon Wat Yongthong primary school, all school principle together with teachers warmly welcomed us to their school.

I felt pleased and quite nervous to work with many friends from various nationalities with different education background. I and my three friends as a groups volunteered to teach through sixth grade children which had approximately 14 students. Definitely it was pretty worried on first day of teaching with my position. At initially I assumed that it would face many difficulties for us because of in my group nobody got any teaching experience before, therefore, we had no idea how to manage, what should prepared for next class. As a result we spent a great amount time preparing each lessons plane, provided many teaching materials such as: sheet papers, projector, and computer to help in the classroom ran more smoothly. Everyone in my group worked very hard in doing research to find different methods to present the information for each lesson, particularly important looking for activities that student would enjoy. At least to say, my first day in the classroom went quite well than I expected. Then I came to realize that being a good teacher is not an easy task, have to prepare a lots before attending the class. Therefore when perceiving the numerous professors in our college I really admire them through their hard work in doing research and collecting information to present to students. Though we encountered some challenges particularly they had less understanding in English, and as a result they could not catch what we explained to them. Mostly in Thai education system engage much in their native language, consequently there is no gap for English. There is no doubt that learning English as second language is not only Thai people to have language barrier but all over the world. Then my duty was orally translated into Thai language to them.

As the day passed by I felt more comfortable and relaxed to see many students enjoy learning with us attentively through activities and games. They really inspired to learning English despite the fact that they did not know much but they tried hard to make conversation with us in English. That meant a lot for us being a teacher. One of the most important lessons that I learned during my student teaching experience was to find ways to improve teaching skills, increases in my confidence by working to make the most of my experience and looking for opportunities to learn. Hopefully, what we had shared would make at least a small contribution to the students’ learning leading them to the bright future.
