Interaction Session of Student Club with the students for 2015

The interaction session began with paying homage to the Triple Gem. It was then followed by a welcome speech by Prof. Tilak, Dean of the Graduate School and the Student Club advisor. The opening remark was followed by a series of words of encouragement and inspiration by Prof. Kapila, Vice Rector of Academic Affairs, who also serves as the Student Club advisor. Then the interaction session commenced with the unfolding of the Aims and Objectives, updates on past and upcoming events by the Student Club’s Treasurer, Mr. Chhen Sela.
Besides that, the President, Ven. Choten Dorji elaborated on two events, which were attended by IBC students and members of the Club. The above-mentioned events were the WBTV Live Talk at Sanam Luang,Bangkok during the week-long Vesak Celebration and the Academic Sharing and Presentation session at the Department of Addictions Studies, Mahidol University. The WBTV Live Talk included a series of programs ranging from cultural sharing and Dharma talk to the Grand Chanting along with close to 1000 monks in front of the Emerald Buddha.
The Presentation Session at Mahidol was academic in nature. The content presented by three IBC students focused on ‘The Role of Buddhist Ethics in the rehabilitation of Drug Addiction’ from different perspectives in relation to the strategies and measures used in their respective countries. The team was led by Ven. Narong upon the invitation of the Director of the Department of Addiction Studies, Mahidol University.
The much anticipated program was the Speaking Contest. The focal person Mr. Chhen Sela briefed the participants and opened the event registration. The response was very encouraging and some students had already chosen their topic before the Interaction Session ended. The contest is expected to take place in September. Other programs of the interaction included discussions, brainstorming and idea sharing from the Club members and new students. Among the upcoming events discussed were Excursion Trip & Picnic, Beautification of IBC Campus, Teaching English to the neighbourhood and community services. Also present at the interaction were professors, lecturers and supporting staffs.
