Rainy Season Retreat

( IBC July 17, 2008 ) Today witnessed the first day of the three-month rainy season retreat in Theravada Buddhism. IBC held a special offering ceremony to the members of monastic sangha. Although the offering ended in just 30 minutes, everyone was joyous and pleased about it.

After the offering, Venerable Prof KL Dhammajoti gave a short speech, which was about the source of the rainy season retreat. Therefore, Venerable Prof KL Dhammajoti was pleased to know that IBC organized this activity though the students were busy with their studies. He hoped everyone cherished the opportune moment and kept up the good job.

The members of monastic sangha did the chanting blessing in return of the appreciation towards the offering :

‘ The ones who make the offering would gain benefits and bread buttered on both sides ' .
